Leave the light on

Thanks for joining me!

I wanted to take a minute to share why I chose the title of this blog.

When my wife and I first started dating I found our one of her favorite movies is the 1998 Robin Williams film What Dreams May Come. It is a sad but beautiful story and a visually stunning film. After we viewed the movie together she said to me she will always look for me. My reply was a take from the the old Motel Six commercials “I will leave the light on”. The longer we have been together it has become a bit of a joke as I can sometimes get a bit distracted or some might say flighty. So it has become “I will leave the light on unless I needed the batteries” or “I will leave the light on unless I forget to turn it on” or …. you get the idea. The point is that even in the darkness of this life, the afterlife, our next lives, or whatever-  we will look for each other.

Leave the light on to me regarding this blog is to remind myself to seek the gifts and positivity even when things seem pretty heavy. Some days are easier than others. Some days I cry, get angry, scared because those feelings need to come through me. If I ignore them or hold them in it will feed more ill health within me. But after those emotions flow through me it is my job to refocus on the light. So I am leaving the light on so my wife can find me but also so I can find myself.h

  1. what beautiful words. Scott and I share something similar in meaning and it connects on a very deep level. Keep shining! I am thinking of you and sending all good thoughts. Have you heard of Marijuana treatment? There is a veritable movement in Europe. Treating cancer with taking Marijuana as it slows down cancer cell growth. If you are interested, let me know, I can send stuff over. My best friend called her chemotherapy her ‘Happy hour’. that made it more positive and palatable for her. Finding a name for the chemo treatment might also make it YOURS and not the poison many think of… LOVE!! Lisa
